I work for master card and we have international contracts with banks in Dubai. Although it’s very difficult to tell you the regional process in dealing with collecting money off of people who cannot pay their credit cards at international locations WHAT I can tell you is that once you don’t pay your credit card that information will be stored in our master card database (since a credit profile like the US and Canada credit bureaus are not the same in Dubai) AND you won’t be able to get another card again. Of course, we sometimes run into the problem of an individual assuming a 2nd identity.
Arrest will happen only if the banks think it’s worth their while to criminally prosecute them! For example, if you owe a bank $50.00 US dollars worth—you bet they won’t come after you. BUT YOU WILL NEVER AGAIN BE ABLE TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM.
