Legally a creditor can take the person to court and win a judgment against him. The person then would have to pay the judgment first if he is going to by a house or get a government job. You did well because you will maintain and improve your credit scores.
Paying your bills on-time will safe you on interest later on. Your friend will have to wait 7 years or hire a credit restoration company to fix his credit.

They can get a judgment. This will allow them to take her car, bank balance and any other assets they can find. They can also leave the judgment open and come looking for assets again years from now. It can also make it impossible for the to buy a home or car in the future with an open judgment.

My Daughter tried that after they took her to court and won a judgement they attached her bank account and got her tax refund. and they won’t stop there they continuelys call and hound her and her friends wanting to know where she is where she works etc.
IT”S NOT WORTH IT. PAY THE BILL

It will really ruin her credit and in life make it very difficult to get the things that she wants at a good price: car, house, sometimes even a job. She should start paying her bill before she gets in even deeper debt

They can get a court judgment and garnish her salary.

They will hound her until she is sick of it and they can get a judgment against her, and she will never be able to get a loan to own anything, until this card is paid. She might think its funny now, but just wait until she wants to get a cell phone or purchase a new car or home, it will come back to haunt her. The card will be paid first.

Sooner or later she will need a new car or
Want to own a condo instead of renting . . .

Then it will come back triple time to bite her .
The late fees and compounded late % will have tripled her bill .

She will only be able to buy junker cars for cash or pay credit card rates for one ,
While you will be able to buy a car for 1/2 the % she’ll be paying and
You will be able to buy that condo or house .

( mortgage lenders do not make loans with delinquencies or collections on record )

ALSO , employers are now checking credit before hiring and collections can keep you from getting the better jobs .

Of course, they will report it to the credit bureau as delinquent and keep calling her. They can also keep adding late charges and fees to the card.

The credit card company will turn her over to a collection agency. This will affect her credit….for instance, when she wants to rent a new place and they pull her credit history - they probably won’t let her rent. They’ll see that she didn’t pay the credit card like she should have. It can really mess up her credit - when she needs to apply for a loan when she wants to actually buy a house, or when she needs a new car….all those kinds of things will be affected.
