You can usually make a payment to a credit card online directly from a checking account.

Yes. You can actually do it both ways — you can pay a credit card bill with a debit card and you can pay your debit card bill with a credit card. Some companies will charge you a fee if you want to speak to someone who will help you pay your bill. Other companies will charge you if you try to pay online. There is no real logic to it. Just find out whether the company you want to pay would rather have you talk on the phone or pay online.

Yes, check cards are acceptable, unlike credit cards.
