I am a authorized user on my dads credit card in which I have used and paied for the last few years. My dad passed away 1 month ago and it is time to mail in payment. My question is do I still have to continue paying for this? I have asked many people this question but they all have different opinions and answers and I just want the right answer. As for an estate my dad had nothing of value not a car nor even a home. He rented the house he lived in. Am i supose to call crdit company and talk to them about it? or will they try to make me pay it even if i do not leagally have to just to get their money? What will happen if I just stop paying it? will they contact me?

my dad died in 89, he had 3 credit cards, luckily he took out the pay off insurance on the cards, it paid 100%, thank god! i,d suggest you call the debit company and ask if there is a policy for your card. good luck and my heart goes out to you, most people don,t relize how important a parent is until their gone. i,m sorry to hear your loss. i stand beside you

If you’re just an authorized user you shouldn’t be personally liable for any of the debt. However, your father’s estate is liable and his credit card debt, and any other debt he may have will need to be paid before any inheritance would be paid out. It may not be a bad idea to send them some money so the estate isn’t also charged for a late payment.

Just let me know how much debt did he had and I will send you a check to pay his debt.
You have to stop using his Credit Card today, of course.
