Can someone else pay my credit card bill?

pay credit card bill
ny asked:

I read about it, once. Two credit cards bills got mixed by mistake, and people paid them, without actually checking them! Can my huge visa card bill be sent to some dotty old woman in Cornwall, and I will receive hers, which will be 39 p for two cans of cat’s food, which I will pay without questioning. Fair is fair, after all. Can it really happen?
I cut out that article from the newspaper and stuck it inside my wardrobe, where my roommate, Susan Cleath-Stuart can’t see it.

Yes, it can happen. Yes, you will get caught because I’m sure the other person will notice the larger bill. Yes, your payment will be re-directed to your bill.

i think a mistake could be made like a block away.. but not between towns of you getting a rich old lady.. and she getting yours.

I guess it COULD happen, although don’t you think the woman might notice a bigger balance than 2 cans of cat food? Smart people look at their statements.

The only way you can get someone to pay ur credit card bill is by asking them nicely to do so, if they say no, then you are on your own.

Yes it does happen, but it is best to always read your statements to be certain you aren’t being charged for things you didn’t buy. Also if you know any elderly people who use credit, offer to go over their bills with them so that they aren’t being ripped off. Many elderly people simply write out a check and don’t bother reading the itemized statements.

I’m sure it can happen, but I’m also sure that the mistake will be corrected and then you’ll be responisble for your own bill! You bill wouldn’t be so high if you used it all the time either:)

Doesn’t happen too often, Rebecca, but yes, it can really happen
